Second years get a large allocation of MUSO Bursary as third years receive the least share

muso bursay award statisticsToday morning the MUSO vice chair-Journalist Pacie and the Finance director Kimtai Sum released the MUSO bursary award list. Through her wall, Pacie stated that kshs. 500,000 were released for the award of MUSO bursaries to 200 students.

We have been analyzing the allocation of the bursary in regards to gender, school and year. Our results indicate that a big share of the MUSO bursary went to second and first years. Of the total ksh. 500,000 meant for MUSO bursary, second years got almost 47 percent, which is equal to ksh. 235,000. We also noted that groups in session received almost 2/3 of the MUSO bursary award.

In regards to schools, students from school of arts we allocated almost half of the MUSO bursary followed by school of education. School of information science and engineering received the least share.

The distribution of the bursary seemed to have failed to meet gender balance as more than 80% (ksh. 400,000)of MUSO bursary was allocated to male students.
