Ministry of education 2023 Term Dates for Schools in Kenya
The ministry of education has released the official revised 2023 term dates for schools. This calendar is the latest revised calendar.
2023 Pre-primary and primary schools terms dates
- 2023 KCPE: KPSE and KCPE begins on 30th October 2023 and ends on 2nd November 2023. More about KCPE 2022 Timetable or Grade 6’s KPSEA 2022 Timetable.
2023 Lower School Calendar
This calendar is applicable to all students in pre-primary and primary school pupils.
- Term 1: Opening dates (23rd January 2023), closing dates (21st April 2023) (13 weeks) (There will be Half term break of 3 days from 16th March 2023 to 19th March 2023)
- Holiday: from 22nd April 2023 to 7th May 2023 (2 weeks)
- Term 2: Opening Dates (8th May 2023), closing dates (11th August 2023) (14 weeks) (There will be Half term break of 3 days from 29th June 2023 to 2nd July 2023)
- Holiday: from 12th August 2023 to 27th August 2023 (2 weeks)
- Term 3: Opening Dates (28th August 2023), closing dates (27th October 2023)
- Holiday: from 28th October 2023 to 8th January 2024 (10 weeks)
2023 Secondary schools term dates (opening and closing)
- 2023 KCSE: KCSE begins on 3rd November 2023 and ends on 24th November 2023. More about KCSE 2022 Timetable.
2023 High School Calendar
This calendar is applicable to all secondary school students.
- Term 1: Opening dates (23rd January 2023), closing dates (21st April 2023) (13 weeks) (There will be Half term break of 3 days from 16th March 2023 to 19th March 2023)
- Holiday for first term: from 22nd April 2023 to 7th May 2023 (2 weeks)
- Term 2: Opening Dates (8th May 2023), closing dates (11th August 2023) (14 weeks) (There will be Half term break of 5 days from 27th June 2023 to 2nd July 2023)
- Holiday for second term: from 12th August 2023 to 27th August 2023 (2 weeks)
- Term 3: Opening Dates (28th August 2023), closing dates (27th October 2023)
- Holiday for third term: from 28th October 2023 to 8th January 2024 (10 weeks)
Teacher Training Colleges Calendar
Teacher training colleges will open for Term 2 on 23rd January 2023 and close on 21st April 2023. They will then proceed for a 3 weeks holiday from 22nd April 2023 to 7th May 2023.
Third Term opening date for colleges is 8th May 2023 and the closing date is 11th August 2023. College students will proceed for term three holiday from 12th August 2023 to 1st September 2023.
2023 Term 1 for colleges begins on 4th September 2023 and ends on 17th November 2023.
Other colleges and each university have their own opening schedule.
2023 School calendar highlight
- Schools will not have mid-break or half-term in term 3
- KCSE and KCPE exams will be in November
- There will be a break of 10 weeks to allow candidates to do their national exams.
