The one year term was my generation’s task to carry on what other pioneers began. This time we were given a chance to serve ALL and understood that we are truly created equal therefore then the love we committed to one another had to be equal as well. It was my team’s task to make words, rights, values of life and liberty and the pursuit of happiness real for every student.
I got a chance to recall that what binds this College together is not the tribe, the height, or the tenets of our faith or the origins of our names. What makes us exceptional, what makes us KMTC Family is our allegiance to an idea of God’s children who met together to learn how to help others in different capacities. We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men and women are created equal.
To the students, Although it takes a while for some of us to get you to understand, and more so appreciate, the more complexity of leadership concepts, once the few of you got the point it gave me a sense of accomplishment like nothing else. Knowing that I helped you further your education even by just getting you to see the difference between a welfare person and a link to the administration made me feel like there is sense in what I did.
Thank you because you have also given me my purpose. So many people are walking the Earth, directionless and irrelevant because they serve no higher intention. But for me, you are the reason why I strive to be a better person. I was your leader, hopefully, to help in your success and aid in your preparation in facing the political world. I am honored that you entrusted these hopes of yours to me and for your information. I worked hard so as not to fail you, if you didn’t know.
Let me again just reiterate that handling some of you has been a constant challenge. Know that the pressure from some of you fell on deaf ears because some of what was asked from us to do, I realized was because some of us just chose to intentionally give us problems. But know too, that I enjoyed every moment of it. I loved being part of your lives and growing with you. You were my inspiration.
Many thanks to my fellow SRC Officials, the college Principal G. Mbuthia and her team, during my tenure. She has my utmost respect and gratitude. She deserves our thanks for what she has done for this college and our support in whatever she decides to in the future.
