UPDATE (8th February 2017): Teachers Service Commission (TSC) is set to promote 10,000 public secondary school teachers . 20,057 candidates have so far been shortlisted and will be interviewed on 20th and 25th.
Those shortlisted include primary school head teachers and deputies in job group G and H with a Bachelor of Education degree. Others other include those in job group L.
Interviewees will be conducted in county officess in Kisii, Nakuru, Embu, Kisumu, Eldoret, Kakamega, Machakos, Nairobi, Nyeri and Mombasa. Promotions will be to job groups K, M and N.
To be promoted to job group N one must be a senior graduate teacher, ordinary diploma teachers, senior lecturers, senior approved teachers and having served in job group M as head teachers.

PAST UPDATE
TSC has released a list of 40, 369 teachers who have been promoted in the first phase. The Teachers service commission (TSC) secretary, Gabriel Lengoiboni indicated that the teachers who have been promoted have started receiving letters and if you are among them you should check in your postal address. He also stated that all the teachers who have been promoted should have received their letters by latest 30th September 2014 so that they can be captured on the October 1st Payroll.
Some of the teachers who have been promoted fall in the level of Masters, Degree, Diploma,ECDE, ecd, SNE,A Level and p1 A level class 1 to 9 among others levels. The promoted teachers serve in national polytechnics, special needs institutions, colleges, secondary schools and primary schools. The cost of covering the promotion is estimated to be 4.6 billion a year and 389 million a month.
