University, College Life in Kenya: Surviving in campus can be quite hectic considering the pressure of trying to fit in. Most of the time, the desire to keep up with current trends and given lifestyles makes it difficult for students to sail smoothly throughout their period of study. But it doesn’t have to be that way. One can live comfortably within their means while enjoying their studies. Inorder for that to happen, students have to come up with cushioning measures right from day one in campus.

Selecting Campus Friends

One has to carefully select their friends. This is keeping in mind that these are the people you are going to spend most of your time with so they are definitely going to influence your expenditure. Also be ready to lose and gain friends on the way.It happens all the time.

Do your shopping in bulk. Avoid buying common things from the canteen on a daily basis. But rather visit wholesale/retail outlets where you can get goods at a much cheaper price.Visit open air markets oftenly and you will be suprised at how much you will be able to save. When you get that Helb loan or that upkeep money, then that’s the right time to do all these.

Using Campus Resources

Make use of the campus computer lab/library for all your assignments and
research. Avoid unnecessary expenditures of visiting cyber cafes. Remember, those services are included in your fees.In that line, make sure you do all your printing and photocopying needs within the campus or surrounding areas. The charges are usually cheaper.

Living withing your means in campus

Avoid comparing yourself with others. You do not come from the same
background. The earlier you accept that, the better and happier your days will be.
Loosen up and enjoy, it is a once in a lifetime chance
