Some of its primary responsibilities include regulating the energy sector to guarantee compliance with applicable laws and regulations, promoting the development and use of renewable energy sources like solar, wind, geothermal, and hydroelectric power and planning and supervising the construction of energy infrastructure, such as power plants, transmission lines, and distribution networks.
