Kisumu County is located in western Kenya, on the shores of Lake Victoria. Kisumu, which means "sumo" or a site of barter trading, is the Kenyan inland port city on Lake Victoria and the capital of Kisumu County, Kenya. It is Kenya's third largest city, after the capital Nairobi, and the coastal city of Mombasa. Kisumu borders Lake Victoria, Africa's largest freshwater lake. The lake not only offers stunning views, but it also acts as an important economic resource for fishing and transportation. The city is a regional transportation hub, with Kisumu International Airport offering domestic and international flights and the port serving as a gateway for maritime trade on Lake Victoria.
