Homeland Security is part of the 15 executive departments of the United States Federal Government that is responsible for securing the nation from internal and external threats.

Brief History of DHS

US Department of Homeland Security was created on October 19th 2002 through a proposal by President George W. Bush. Then in November 19th 2002 congress passed a legislation for the establishment of DHS. It begun its operations in January 24th 2003 with 22 federal department and agencies merging by March 1st 2003.

The need to establish homeland security arose after the September 11 2001 attack to protect the American people.
