Home Remedies for treating Acne: Many who have been unfortunate to suffer from acne will tell you that they would go to any length to get rid of the pesky blemishes.

This includes stocking on tens of cosmetic products that promise blemish-free skin in a matter of days.

Unfortunately, most cosmetic products contain harmful substances than can do more damage than good to you skin.

Luckily, there are natural remedies you can turn to to fight acne without breaking the bank and risking harmful side effects.

Baking Soda

Baking soda is used in a wide range of home applications, from cooking to cleaning. It contains sodium bicarbonate crystals that are helpful in exfoliating skin.

Mix baking soda with water to make a thick paste. Massage this paste into affected skin in gentle, circular motions. Allow the paste to settle on the skin for about 5 minutes.

Rinse with lukewarm water and apply a natural moisturizer. Repeat every other day until you achieve desired results.

Coconut Oil

Coconut oil contains beneficial substances that have healing properties. Pour about a quarter of a teaspoon of virgin coconut oil on your palm.

Gently rub it into your skin in circular motions, applying a little pressure to make sure it seeps into the skin.

You do not have to wash away coconut oil since it is even more beneficial if left on your skin, unless it causes you discomfort.

Honey

Honey is yet another natural elixir known to have numerous uses in the home. Other than nutrition and preservation, honey also helps to moisturize and heal scars.

The good thing with honey is that you do not need to mix it with any substance to enhance its healing properties.

Just pour a small amount onto your palms and gently rub on affected skin. Be sure to use natural, raw honey, not the processed type found on supermarket shelves.

Cane Sugar

Cane sugar contains glycolic acid; which is an active agent in removal of dead skin and promotion of cell regeneration.

To make your homemade sugar scrub, mix two parts of cane sugar with one part of virgin olive oil and a few drops of raw lemon juice.

Apply the scrub to acne scars and rub gently. Leave the scrub for about fifteen minutes before washing off and applying a natural moisturizer. Repeat every two or three days until you get desired results.

 Lemon

Lemon juice contains alpha-hydroxy acid; beneficial in removal of dead skin and enhancing skin rejuvenation.

Squeeze juice lemon juice into a receptacle and dab on affected skin using cotton or a clean cloth. You may want to dilute the lemon juice if you have sensitive skin.

Once the lemon juice dries on your skin, wash off with clean water and apply a natural moisturizer. Repeat treatment every two or three days until you start getting desired results.
