ODM April 2017 party primaries  results of winners and losers:The Orange Democratic Movement  (ODM) nominations went down in Busia County, Bungoma County and Machakos County. The Most hotly contested seat in the primaries was Governor position in Busia County which had  Funyala mp Paul Otuoma and the incumbent Governor Sospeter Ojaamong.

 

The exercise of ODM  nominations in Busia county  begun  a little late  in what the party claims to be attributed to technical hitches. Some polling stations attracted some commotions from voters who agitated because of being asked to use ODM cards for voting instead of their IDs cards only.

 

In some poling stations, names of voters and aspirants were missing in the ODM membership resister and they had to resort to using the independent electoral boundaries commission  (IEBC) voters register. However, the results came to an end  and we have winners and losers

Busia County ODM nomination Women Rep winner

Florence Mutua emerged the outright winners in the women representative race with  votes which however did not attract a lot of competition

As earlier indicated this position had two contestants Hon. Paul Otuoma and Hon. Sospeter Ojaamong Lets briefly looks at their political profile

Profile of  Paul Otuoma:  He was first elected as member of parliament (mp) for  Funyula Constituency in 2017. Thereafter, he was appointed to serve as the minister for the Local Government from 2010-2013 in the grand coalition government.

Profile of Governor Sospeter Ojaamong:  He first got into politics when he was elected as member of parliament in Amagoro Constituency  2007.  He was later appointed to serve as the assistant minister of Labor in the grand coalition government. In the 4 March 2013 elections, He was elected as the first Governor of Busia County.

 

 

Results of ODM primaries in Governor position

The  final results available indicate that Sospeter Ojamoong is leading. He has been declared winner with.

 

• Paul Otuoma: 63752k votes
• Sospeter Ojamoong: 92358k votes

 

UPDATE: ODM NEB has nullified these results and they will be repeated on April 25th 2017
