The Ministry of interior and coordination in Kenya has announced the extension of the deadline for the phase-out of the old generation passport to November 2022.

Old generation passport phase-out deadline extension

In a press statement released on 21st February 2022, the Ministry of Interior indicated that they were extending the deadline of the phase-out of old generation passports from 31st December 2021 to November 2022.

The extension of the deadline to phase out old generation passports was reached after a meeting of EAC members that was held in Arusha, Tanzania from 22nd to 29th November 2021. The meeting agreed that all EAC members should extend the deadline to date November 2022.

EAC countries comprise Kenya, Tanzania, Burundi, Rwanda, Uganda, and South Sudan. Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) is also in its last stages of joining EAC.
