Moi University Main Campus closed: Tribal national politics sinks into campus politcs

Moi University students have taken each other on running battles. The chaos have been in progress since morninng of 13th July 2015  on political grounds. This was after an aspirant in the docket of students’ chairmanship Elvis Langas was stoned as he walked out of the Dean of student’s office in students centre by alleged paid “goons” from Don Owinos side.

 

There have been tribal wrangles concerning the omission of one of the Entertainment Aspirant’s name (Victor Brian) in the list of the aspirants, and this might have increased the acrimony between the two divides (Luo and Kalenjin communities)

Business premises within the campus have remained under lock in fear of looting, as has been in previous rampages. The university staff flew their vehicle off after Scores of the battling students got injured. This was reported to be the second time for tribal chaos to have taken course in Moi University in its history due to students’ election.

After several hours of confrontation police have been called to curb the state and the school has been indefinitely closed.
