Moi University, JKUAT beat UON, KU, Strathmore… to win 17 billion Laptop project tender

The Jubilee government 17 billion laptop project tender goes to Moi University and JKUAT

 

The Jubilee Laptop project tender which has opened late 2015 has come to an end with Moi University and  JKUAT emerging the winners beating 8 universities and  multinational companies like Lenovo that were contesting  for the 17 billion project.

 

Universities that contested for the tender include

  1. University of Nairobi (UON)
  2. Moi University
  3. Strathmore University
  4. Kenyatta University
  5. Technical  University  of Kenya (TUK)
  6. Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT)
  7. Masinde Muliro University
  8. Meru University
  9. Multimedia University
  10. Dedan Kimathi university

 

The Jubilee government in its 2013 campaign pledges promised to give standard one  pupils laptops but the promise is yet to fulfilled due court disputes facing the tendering project.

The laptops will be able to reach only 400,000 primary pupils out of the total number of over 8 millions primary pupils in Kenya and 1.37 million pupils in standard oneas at 2014.
