Prof. Richard K. Mibey who has served as the vice chancellor of Moi University and who had gone on retirement has been recalled. A statement released by the institution read “Prof. Richard K. Mibey Vice Chancellor of Moi University has been recalled by Moi University Council to resume duties with immediate effect”

Prof. Richard K. Mibey has over time been accused of imposing unnecessary rules in the institution. He has snatched away all the fundamental rights of the staffs and students leaving no space for democratic rights.

His first appointment as VC came at a time when the government of the day wanted so stop the rising power of the student unions. He was seen as a suitable government loyalist who would help to propagate an ideology and not to assist in the generation of knowledge and growth of the institution.

As many agree, Prof. Mibey’s return is as good as burying the institution.
