Crimes Committed by Lawrence Warunge

Lawrence Warunge, a 22 year old Mount Kenya University student from Karura, Kiambaa, Kiambu County on  Saturday 2nd January 2021 murdered his father (Nicholas Njoroge Warunge), mother (Annie), two brothers (Christian and Maxwell) and farm worker (James Kinyanjui) at his parent’s home in Kiambaa.

He was arrested on Saturday 9th January 2020 in Lower Kabete, Nairobi and is being held in Gigiri Police Station as investigations continue.

According to a police statement, Lawrence Warunge confessed to have planned and executed the murder.

Lawrence Warunge Court Case

On Tuesday 26th January 2021, Chief Magistrate Patricia Gichohi relying on a psychiatric report ruled that after mental assessment was done on Lawrence Warunge, it was found that he is unfit to stand trial.

Lawrence Wareunge will be detained for more days as office of the DPP does more medical checks on him.

If further tests reveal that he is mentally unfit, he will have to be transferred to a mental hospital for healing.
