Lectures Strike History

Kenya University Lecturers’s strike has entered yet another week after the University Academic Staff Union (UASU) rejected a return to work agreement they had made with the Cabinet secretary for education Mr. Matiangi.

 

While issuing  a press statement the lecturers union leaders claimed that the government is playing  mind games with them has no intention  implementing the CBA.

 

Matiangi had met with the Lecturers’ Union leaders on Thursday 26th 2017 and asked them to call off the ongoing  strike until March 1, 2017  pending negotiations.

 

Student leaders on the other hand have given the government and  lecturers an ultimatum of one week to settle their difference before moving to court.

 

Latest update (8th February 2017): The government has offered lecturers sh. 10 billion to call off strike which they have since denied.
