Kirinyaga County Jubilee party primaries, Friday 21st April  2017: The Jubilee party nominations went down in Kirinyaga County on Friday. The Most hotly contested seat in the Kirinyaga primaries was  that of  Governor position. The candidates to beat in this position were incumbent governor Hon. Ndathi Joseph Kathuri and  Waiguru Anne Mumbi.

Kirinyaga County  is a voting stronghold of President Uhuru Kenyatta according to the  2013 presidential elections results  where he received over 90% of the total votes against his closest competitor Raila Odinga.
