KASNEB stops accepting payment through Mpesa Paybill

KASNEB has announced that it has stopped accepting payment through its mpesa paybill number 204777 as it has been shut down.

Attempts to make payment through the KASNEB paybill number results in an error message “Failed. Mpesa cannot complete this operation. Charge debit party is in the Frozen state..

KASNEB says that registration, exam booking, application for exemptions, deferment,  certificate storage fees, remarking, and annual renewal payments through eCitizen platform, mobile app, portal, and any other KASNEB online platform should only be made through KASNEB KCB and NBK bank accounts.

KASNEB is responding to a directive issued by President William Ruto requiring all government institutions to use one Mpesa Paybill number, 222222.

Many government institutions are finding it difficult to comply with the directive on short notice as their payment systems were custom-built to process payment with their own paybill number. As a result, some government institutions have temporarily suspended accepting payment through Mpesa Paybill as they work on building their payment system to comply with the directive.

KASNEB says that it will issue a communication when it will start accepting payment through Mpesa paybill 222222.
