The Mate 10 and Mate 10 Pro are Huawei’s latest releases as the Chinese manufacturer tries to keep abreast with industry big players.

Both the Huawei Mate 10 and Mate 10 Pro pack some awesome specs that easily make them rank high with flagships from the likes of Samsung and Apple.

The Mate 10 and Mate 10 Pro are basically the same device; save for a few variations which this article will detail.

Here are the phones’ technical specifications:

Display

The Mate 10 has a 5.9-inch IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen with a 16:9 aspect ratio and a resolution of 1440 x 2560 pixels (499 ppi density).

The Mate 10 Pro has a 6-inch OLED display with an 18:9 aspect ratio and a resolution of 1080 x 2160. Both screens are protected by Corning Gorilla Glass.

OS and Processors

Both the Mate 10 and Mate 10 Pro run on Android 8.0 (Oreo) layered with Huawei’s EMUI 8.0.

They are powered by an Octa-core processor (2.36GHz x 4 Cortex-A73 and 1.8Ghz x 4 Cortex-A53) based on the Hisilicon Kirin 970 chipset.

Graphics are powered by a Mali-G72 MP12 GPU.

RAM and Storage

The Mate 10 comes with 4GB or RAM and 64GB of internal storage. Storage capacity is expandable externally via microSD of up to 256GB.

The Mate 10 Pro comes with 4GB or 6GB of RAM and 64GB or 128GB of internal storage. It does not offer support for storage expansion via microSD.

Camera

Both devices have similar camera specifications. The primary camera is a dual lens of 12MP + 20MP.

The dual camera boasts of features like Leica optics, OIS, 2x lossless zoom, phase detection and dual-LED dual tone flash.

It is capable of recording 2160p video at 30fps and 1080p at 30/60fps. The secondary camera is 8MP, f/2.0.

Network and Connectivity

Both devices support GPS, HSPA and LTE networks accessible via single SIM, dual SIM (Mate 10 Pro) or Hybrid Dual SIM (Mate 10).

Communication to other device is via Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, dual-band, DLNA, WiFi Direct and hotspot.

Bluetooth 4.2, A2DP, aptX HD, LE. GPS with A-GPS, GLONASS, and BDS. USB 3.1, Type-C 1.0 reversible connector, USB Host. NFC and Infrared.

Battery

Both devices are powered by a non-removable Li-Po 4000 mAh battery and feature Huawei’s SuperCharge.

Other Features

  • Sensors: Fingerprint (front-mounted for the Mate 10 and rear-mounted fir the Mate 10 Pro), accelerometer, gyro, barometer, compass and proximity.
  • Colours: Black, Champagne Gold, Pink Gold, and Mocha Brown.
  • The Mate 10 has 3.5mm headphone jack while the Mate 10 Pro does not.
  • IP53 and IP67 water and dust resistance ratings for the Mate 10 and Mate 10 Pro respectively.

Pros:

  • No wireless charging
