Officers from the Commission for University  education (CUE) Kenya  have closed Barack Obama University in Kiambu County, Kenya which was expecting to receive its first students late 2015.

Led by Prof Henry Thairu, the CUE officers visited the university named after American president Barack Obama on 2nd May 2015, in search of the owner of the university whom they could not locate.The officers rubbed all the “Barack Obama University” writings with paint and placed a close notice.

The CUE officers indicated that Barack Obama University  was operating illegally as it was not accredited by the commission. The founder of the university who could not be traced risks facing a fine of more than one million shillings for running an institution without following the legal registration procedure.
