A statement released by KUCCPS reads;

To All 2015 K.C.S.E. Candidates Who Scored a Mean Grade of B – of 58 and 59 Points for Boys and 56 and 57 Points for Girls

The Government of Kenya, through the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology, has resolved to admit Government Sponsored Students to Private Universities with effect from 2016/2017 in order to increase access to University Education for Kenyans.

An additional 10,000 2015 K.C.S.E. candidates will be placed by Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service to Private Universities as Government Sponsored Students, in addition to those already placed in Public Universities. The 10,000 students who will be placed in Private Universities will receive the same government financial support as those selected to join Public Universities.

The total number of 2015 K.C.S.E. candidates that will be admitted as Government Sponsored Students in 2016/2017 will therefore increase from 74,389 to 84,389. This effectively lowers the Degree cut-off points for Government Sponsorship by 2 points to a B – of 58 points for boys and a B – of 56 points for girls for the 2015 K.C.S.E. candidates.

The Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service therefore wishes to announce to the candidates who scored a B – of 56 and 57 points (girls) and 58 and 59 points (boys) that the online application system will open for application for placement of Government Sponsored Students to Private Universities on Wednesday, August 24, 2016 at 0000 hours and will close on Wednesday, August 31, 2016 at midnight. The system will be accessible through the Placement Service student’s portal.

Note that this application is only for the unplaced 2015 K.C.S.E. candidates who scored a mean grade of B – of 56 and 57 points for girls and 58 and 59 points for boys.
