Here are the most performing parliamentarians in Kenya and their educational background according to Mzalendo’s shujaa awards
2015, we shared here an article of members of parliament who had been nominated for the Shujaa awards. Public voting  went down from 17th November to 9th December 2015 in Mzalendo.com. Mzalendo is a non-partisan platform started in 2005 whose mission is to evaluate  the Kenyan parliament.’ Mzalendo provides relevant information about the National Assembly and Senate activities.

Mzalendo’s Shujaa Awards seek to recognize leaders by focusing on their legislation, oversight and representation.

Below are parliamentarians who won 2015 Shujaa awards and their educational background
Prof. Anyang’ Nyong’o (Senator Kisumu County)- He won the Shujaa awards under the category of Wanjiku’s Best Representative – (Institutional Oversight 2015) for his motion on on the state of Kenya Airways.
He graduated from;

  • University of Chicago, USA-(PhD, Political Science)
  • Makerere University, Uganda-((BA, Political Science & Philosophy)

Isaac Maigua Mwaura (nominated mp)-He won the shujaa awards under the category of Wanjiku’s Best Representative – (Special interests 2015) for his Petition: Construction of a footbridge on Waiyaki Way to link ABC Place Bus Stop and the National Council for Persons with Disabilities Office, Westlands, Nairobi.
He graduated from;

  • Nelson Mandela University-(MA Development Studies)

Dullo Fatuma Adan (nominated senator)-She won the shujaa awards under the category of Wanjiku’s Best Representative – (Security 2015)  for her  Motion: Extra-judicial Killings by KWS.
He graduated from;

  • University of Nairobi-(LLB) and (LLM)

Amos Wako (Sentor Busia County)-He won the shujaa awards under the category of Wanjiku’s Best Representative – (Access to Justice 2015) for his Representation in the Administrative Justice committee: The Committee Report on the annual Report (2012/2013) of the commission on Administrative Justice.
He graduated from;

  • Chartered Institute of Arbitrators, London, UK- ( Fellow-(F.C.I. Arb)
  • University of London-(Master of Laws with specialisation in Comparative Constitutional Law)
  • University of Dar-es-Salaam-(Bachelor of Law LL.B (HONS)

Mutahi Kagwe (Senator Nyeri County)-He won the shujaa awards under the category of Wanjiku’s Best Representative – (Devolution 2015) for his County Allocation of Revenue Allocation Bill.
He graduated from;

  • University of Nairobi- (B com (Insurance law and practices)
  • United States International University-(Masters Business Administration)

Joyce Wanjalah Lay (Women’s representative for Taita Taveta)-She won the shujaa awards under the category of  Wanjiku’s Best Representative – (Progressive contributions 2015) for her Motion: Translation of the Constitution to Kiswahili.
He graduated from;

  • University of Nairobi-(BA Political Science and Sociology).

Dr. Agnes Zani (Nominated Senator)-She won the shujaa awards under the category of  Wanjiku’s Best Representative – (Education 2015) for her Motion: Classification of Schools.
He graduated from;

  • University of Nairobi (BA Sociology)

  • Col (Rtd) Ali Rasso Dido (mp Saku)-He won the shujaa awards under the category of  Wanjiku’s Best Representative – (Financial Oversight 2015) for The Excise Duty Bill.
  • Tom Joseph Kajwang’ (mp Ruaraka)-He won the shujaa awards under the category of  Wanjiku’s Best Representative – (Business 2015) for his Companies Bill 2014.
  • Francis Mwanzia Nyenze (mp Kitui West)-He won the shujaa awards under the category of  Wanjiku’s Best Representative – (Mining 2015) for his Petroleum Bill 2015.
  • Cyprian Iringo: He won the shujaa awards under the category of Wanjiku’s Best Representative – (Health 2015) for his Petition: Legal recognition of Kenya Association of Private Hospitals by National Hospital Insurance Fund (NHIF).
  • Mutula Kilonzo Jr. (Senator Makueni County)-He won the shujaa awards under the category of  Wanjiku’s Best Representative – (Land 2015) for his motion: Historical Land Injustices
