Greenchar by Tom Osborn: Every Friday we feature young and rising entrepreneurs in Kenya: In our young entrepreneur focus of the week today we are focusing on 19 year old Tom Osborn who recently received a 7.7 million  two year funding from the Echoing Green fellow.

Kenyayote  had the opportunity to land at 19 year old Tom Osborn such a young, brilliant  and humble man dreaming big. Tom Osborn Was born and grown up in a humble family, Rongo south  Nyanza, Kenya.
19 year old Tom Osborn is the founder of GreenChar. GreenChar is an enterprise that provides clean charcoal briquettes that are made from agricultural wastes. Unlike the normal charcoal, GreenChar’s charcoal is Eco Friendly, produces high energy, it is smokeless and is long lasting. GreenChar also distributes clean cookstoves that  reduce smoke emissions, retain more heat and reduce fuel costs.

Tom Osborn has won several awards for his outstanding idea and has been featured in  media houses like Forbes, Daily Nation, Business Daily, Huffingtonpost among others. His story  is nothing but  short of a motivation.

Tom Osborn says “In Africa  there are alot of young entrepreneurs  who have  great ideas but they never get  noticed or past the small-scale level. I think one reason is that they poorly position themselves and the organization. They don’t know how to tell their story”
