If in America, you lose your house in a storm, chances are that the President of the United States will come round to comfort you and promise you federal help in rebuilding your home. In Kenya, your child, your only hope in whom you have invested the family fortune, is slaughtered in cold blood. If Westgate was a disaster, what do you call Garissa? Kenya, led by the Jubilee Government, let down the students of Garrisa University College in life and death.

The country is vulnerable, not just because it has enemies, but because its systems of security are corrupt and incompetent. There were intelligence reports that a university was to be attacked, and that Garissa and Mandera were at risk. Why weren’t adequate measures taken to protect the university. It is bad enough that it took 11 hours for specialists officers trained in dealing with terrorists to swing into action. By then it was too late since Al-Shabaab does not take hostages; they strike to kill and die! These are the children of Kenya, the hope of its future. They were the martyrs of a nation under attack.

Terrorism is not a campaign issue. It is an existential threat to the nation. It saddens Kenyans to see that their leaders are not circling the wagons and fighting this evil. These children are lost in our hands, brutally slaughtered by fanatics. But even in death they still have the power to unite us, to get us to see beyond differences and to fight together for our preservation as one people.

WHERE IS LEADERSHIP?

Are we waiting for another attack so that we can put strategies in the Security sector. Remember the Alshabab they have been soo quiet? What could they be thinking of? Are they planning for another attack so that the government can open its eyes? Is the nyumba kumi initiative dead or something of that sort? Remember the 147 martyrs who died just in cold blood on Kenyan land. If the 147 could all graduate and become engineers, doctors, lawyers, where could be Kenya in the next few years.

Please Uhuru Kenyatta look at the security matter and resolve it. Imagine Kenya being like Somalia, citizens living in fear! Who would invest there? Political instability! If we want to achieve the vision 2030 lets check the security or it would be vision 3020. When Obama was in Kenya the security was very tight. Imagine that same security being in Kenya for normal citizens attacks would be long forgotten. Lets be United and Improve our security as Kenyans. Lets work hand in hand with the police and resolve this tragedy.

LETS END CORRUPTION AND FIGHT TERRORISM
