Laikipia University has been indefinitely closed by the school administration until further notice due student protest over fee increase.

Closure Memo
A memo released by the Laikipia University and which has been attached above read;
” The 79th special Laikipia University senate meeting held on 29th May 2017 at 10:30 am resolved to close the main campus indefinitely with immediate effect following students unrest.
Consequently, all students are directed to vacate the university premises latest 12:00 noon today.”
Student had held demonstrations demanding the school administration to review its earlier decision where it published that announced that school fees had been increased by about 50%.
A document received by Kenyayote indicated that all first years admitted under government sponsored to the university were required to pay a total of ksh. 58,000 per academic year while in other universities Government sponsored students pay an average of ksh 26,000 per academic year. Continuing students were required to pay a total of ksh. 32,000.
