Labour day is celebrated internationally but on different days and in different countries. In Kenya, it was first celebrated on May 1st 1964 and is celebrated yearly on 1st May. The celebration is led by the Central Organization of Trade Unions, Kenya (COTU-K).

What happens during the Labour Day celebration
Kenyans celebrate this day by attending a public event organized by COTU-K at a specified stadium or venue. Various public and private companies and government parastatals select a few employees who match at the stadium
The president also delivers a live speech which focuses on the plight of employees and employment in Kenya.
How to celebrate Labour Day
Most Kenyans don’t go to work since it’s a public holiday. They do visit various tourist attraction sites or spend time with their families.

Labour day will be on Monday 1st May 2023.
