Musician Robert Ssentamu Kyagulanyi famously known as Bobi Wine is the winner in the just concluded Kyadondo East parliamentary by elections. Final results from the Uganda Electoral Commission (EC) indicate that Bobi Wine won with a landslide victory.

• Robert Kyagulanyi: 25659 voters
• Sitenda Sebalu: 4556 voters
• Apollo Kantiti: 1832 voters
• Muwada Nkunyingi: 575 voters
• Kayongo Male: 377 voters

Even before the final results are out, I am already celebrating the great win of a comrade in the struggle against misrule in Uganda. This win matters to me because it signals a fresh wave in the psyche of Ugandan voters opposed to the current system of political organizing.

Bobi Wine’s landslide victory reveals that one can win at the ballot in Uganda without relying on any political party affiliation. The form of organizing we need to dismantle the Museveniocracy must unite voters beyond unity forged through political partying. We need more Bobi Wines to redo this strategy en mass!

 

About Robert Ssentamu Kyagulanyi aka Bobi Wine

Bobi Wine is a famous Ugandan musician turned politician. He was born in 12 February 1982 in Mpigi District and studied in Makerere University. He is a close friend of Uganda’s opposition leader Kifefe Kizza-Besigye.

Kyadondo East parliamentary contest

After a petition by NRM’s William Sitenda Sebalu, the Ugandan Court of appeal  nullified the election of Apollo Kantinti as Kyaddondo East Member of Parliament (MP) citing lack of compliance with electoral laws.The Ugandan Electoral Commission was ordered to conduct fresh elections in the constituency.

The main competitors in the by Election were, musician Bobi Wine (independent candidate), Apollo Kantinti (FDC) and Sitenda Ssebalu (NRM).
