Kenya Power has issued a statement on why prepaid token purchase is not working. KPLC attributes the problems to mpesa network issues. Safaricom also issued a statement acknowledging that they are facing network issues. Below is the statement

“A technical glitch affecting M-PESA is preventing our prepaid customers from buying electricity tokens currently.

The responsible team is working to resolve the hitch, and we expect to resume normal service as soon as possible.

Customers are advised to use alternative vending channels including Equitel, Airtel Money and KCB Bank. We appreciate your understanding and apologise for any inconvenience caused.”

You can purchase tokens using Equity Mobile App, Airtel Money or KCB.
