The Cabinet Secretary for Education Prof. Jacob Kaimenyi has asked all students who were funded by HELB and have completed their studies to repay their loans which now stand at sh. 9.1 billion.

Speaking today-May 28, 2014 at the Kenya Institute Of Education (KIE) now KICD, Kaimenyi also indicated that students will not be required to provide security to be awarded HELB loans as advocated earlier as that will lock out thousands of poor students from securing University education.

He also said from a moral point of view that, students attending Technical Vocational Education and Training should also be financed by HELB-source

Most Public University students are however waiting to hear whether Kaimenyi will make a remark about their suggestion to increase the amount of loans offered to students.
