The president also awards state commendations to various leaders and individuals for their outstanding service to the country.

Some visit historical sites like Fort Jesus in Mombasa, Lamu old town, Hell’s Gate National park in Naivasha, and Koobi Fora in Turkana while others attend sporting events at Kasarani National Stadium.
