The Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions has this afternoon directed police Inspector General to commence investigation and subsequent arrest of Kandara MP Alice Wahome.

Letter from Office of the DPP

The legislator is accused of assaulting Martin Malonza, an IEBC Returning Officer for Kandara (her constituency).

In a widely circulated video, Alice Wahome is seen tussling with Mr. Malonza, wanting him to consider her input before transporting electoral forms to the headquarters.

The RO, with help of police officers managed to break free off the irate MP. He can be heard in the video swearing that he was not going not going to make changes to the forms no matter what.

Alice is then heard threatening those around that they will be responsible if they let him leave the premises and “destroy all we have worked for.”

There was public outcry for her arrest as most social media users speculated that the MP was trying to force the steadfast RO to irregularly alter data on form 34A to boost Uhuru Kenyatta’s numbers in the repeat polls.

Others, however, opined that she was only trying to prevail over him to correct some mistakes made during tallying.

The MP is among ladies aligned to the Jubilee party that made headlines when they appeared dressed in military fatigues and red berets bearing the party logo.
