The ministry of education has been working for years to implement the new education system is 2-6-6-3 (2-6-3-3-3) under their Curriculum Reforms. The system is yet to be understood by many teachers and learners and there we sough brake it down relying on presentation from the Kenya institute of curriculum development (KICD)

The Four important Pillars that underpin the Basic Education Framework of the new system are
- National Goals of Education
- Values
- Theoretical approaches
- Guiding Principles
NOTE: The new system has not been fully agreed on by education stakeholders and thus remains as a proposal.
Classes of the New education system
1.) Early Year Education (Pre-primary and lower primary)
Early years education will be made up of two years of pre-primary and three years of lower primary school education as suggested. This will classed into grades.

2). Middle School ( Upper Primary and Junior secondary-6 years)

Middle school education will be made up of three years of upper primary and three years of junior secondary education as suggested. This will be divided into grades
3). Senior School (has three pathways)
As suggested, three pathways will be offered at senior school education level as indicated in the image below
