September 1st 2015 Alexa rankings places Citizentv.co.ke  number six among local websites in Kenya. On top  of Citizentv is Jumia Kenya, Standardmedia, Nation, Safaricom,  and Kra.go.ke.

 
Citizentv.co.ke  is now the fastest rising website in Kenya. Barely 2 months ago Citizen TV was not even among the top 100 ranked local websites in Kenya. It fast rise is attributed to the redesign of its website and the incorporation of a new social media team.

 

In-terms of Global rankings Citizen tops in Kenya. Globally Standardmedia is ranked 9,691, Nation.co.ke is ranked  8,867 while  Citizentv.co.ke  is ranked 7,770   which puts it on top in Kenya.

 

37.2% of the traffic that Citizentv.co.ke   gets originate from Facebook while 13.3% originate from google search. On the other hand, Standardmedia gets  most of its traffic 16.5% from facebook while Nation.co.ke gets most of its traffic 18.3% from Google search. This places Nation.co.ke at a better position in terms SEO while Citizentv.co.ke is placed better interms of social media performance.

Citizen tv  website is the fastest loading website among the three on both mobile and desktop which explains why it is recording a good performance. It should be noted that in 2010, Google announced  that website speed will be included in its search ranking algorithms (Read more about this here). In this case Citizen tv  website gets an advantage because of its fast load speed.

The Graphs below indicate how  the three have been performing in terms of the traffic they receive.

According to the above graphs  you will note that Standardmedia and Nation have been steadily dropping interms of traffic reach while Citizentv.co.ke has been steadily rising. The graphs also indicate that 3 months ago Citizen tv’s performance was its worst that it could not appear on the rankings. Alexa only shows graph statistics for websites ranked between (1-100,000) in the world and citizen was not in that bracket 3 moths ago.
