What follows is a list of the most popular smartphone brands in Kenya and a summary of mobile usage trends in Nairobi.

Dominant Phones in Kenya

Techno, Samsung, Huawei, and Infinix are the most dominant mobile brands in Kenya.  Apple which is the most popular cell phone in the US is not among the top four in Kenya because of its high price and unpopular operating system.

Chinese-made mobile phones have seen impressive growth in Kenya over the last 5 years due to their aggressive marketing strategies and pocket-friendly prices.

This is data was collected from mobile brands devices used to access the internet from 256,331 users in Kenya in a period of one month between October 29th, 2019 to November 27th, 2019. The photo above shows how each brand has improved compared to the past month’s usage statistics.

The ranking does not include mobile phones that do not support internet connectivity.

Summary of Mobile Trends Stats

Data we collected indicate that most smartphones in Kenya are used by users who are aged between 25 to 34 years.

9.24% of smartphone users in Kenya use mobile phones with a  screen solution of  360×640 and a screen color of 4-bit (45.23%) followed by 32-bit. On the other hand, Android is the most popular operating system in Kenya with 87.42% of users having smartphones that run on Android.
