According to a research that was conducted by topuniversities publications and which appeared on the Guardian Newspaper, 75% of students …admit to using Twitter.  Today’s students communicate and share experiences on social media sites like twitter.

In 2014, we brought you statistics of the top 10 universities in Kenya on social media. In our 2015 analysis we found out that some universities do no have twitter handles, others have twitter handles but they have never twitted nor followed anybody since they were created and others have more than three twitter handles, which makes it hard to identify the official one. The worrying thing about fake university twitter accounts is that they have more followers than the official twitter accounts.

Despite of the challenges, we found that there are some universities like Kenyatta University, University of Nairobi, United States International University, Strathmore University, Egerton University, Maseno University among others which are doing a great job on twitter. We also found out that since Nairobi Aviation College opened its twitter account in 2013 it has twitted only twice.
