Kenya Informal Settlement Improvement Program launch

In collaboration with the World Bank and the French Development Agency (AFD), I initiated the second phase of the Kenya Informal Settlement Improvement Program (KISIP) in Kakamega Municipality.

This life changing project, valued at Ksh. 116 million, was launched at Amalemba in Shirere Ward, Lurambi Sub-county.

The upgrade, which responds to the Wealth Creation and Infrastructure Development pillar, will encompass two key areas: Amalemba and Kambi Somali, aligning with our shelter improvement program that aims to construct 360 low-cost houses per Financial Year.

The launch will get Kakamega County closer to the New Urban Agenda and the Sustainable Development Goals as stipulated in the UN-HABITAT Global Action Plan on Informal Settlement and Slum transformation.

Present were the area MCA Hon. David Ikunza and the Chair - County Assembly Lands Committee Hon. Timothy Wanzetse, Development partners led by KISIP County programme coordinator, Eng. Joash Wende, County Officials, among other officers.
