Ministry of Education Term 1 Sports Activities (Primary and Junior Secondary School)

The Ministry of Education has released a schedule of sports activities for Term 1 in Primary and Junior Secondary Schools. The event calendar is available below.

Primary Schools Term 1 Sports Activities 

i) Kids Athletics (8-11) years activities - World athletics Kids approved program (10 boys and 10 girls for demonstration)

ii) Track events - (Primary)

• 400m B/G
• 800m B/G
• 1500m B/G
• 3000m B/G
• 2000m B/G Walk race
• 4x 100m B/G
• 4 400m B/G
• 4x 400m - mixed relay

iii) Field events

• Long Jump B/G

• Tripple Jump B/G
• Discuss B/G 
• Short Put B/G  (Appropriate weights)
• Javelin B/G 

iv) Cross Country

• U 12 Boys - 1200m
• U 12 Girls - 1200m

Junior Secondary School Sports Activities (U 15)

i) Track event:

• 110m B - Hurdles

Junior School Sports Caretaker Committee

As per the Principal Secretary's circular, the Junior school will run alongside primary school activities. Therefore, the caretaker committee will be derived from the existing elected Kenya Primary Schools Sports Association (KPSSA) committees from all levels. The KPSSA officials are advised to seek technical expertise/support from federations and secondary schools.

Safety and Security of learners during sporting events

Kindly use the correct heights and weights of implements applicable to the given ages. Traveling of learners should be within the MOE transport guidelines.
