Marathon Legend Kelvin Kiptum Inducted into Talanta Hall of Fame

In a ceremony led by Sports Cabinet Secretary Ababu Namwamba and Kiptum's son Caleb Kigen, late marathon runner Kelvin Kiptum has been inducted into the Talanta Hall of Fame. Kiptum, who held the world record in the marathon at the time of his passing, becomes the first athlete to enter Kenya's sporting hall of fame.

"This is both a proud and sad moment as we celebrate the induction of a promising athlete who departed this world at his prime," said CS Namwamba during the unveiling event. He added, "This is special because it is the very first formal induction, and Kelvin becomes the first of our legends to be formally inducted in this hall of fame and stands here as a permanent heritage to his incredible contribution."

The Talanta Hall of Fame was established to honor and permanently commemorate the greatest talents and achievements in Kenyan sports history. Kiptum's world record marathon performances and incredible career accomplishments made him the natural choice as the inaugural inductee.
