EACC receives report on Fake Academic Certificates in the public Service

EACC has today received a report from the Public Services Commission (PSC) that highlights the state of fake academic certificates in the public service. The report was received by EACC chairperson David Oginde, EACC CEO Twalib Mbarak, and DCI boss Mohamed I. Amin. The report will inform law enforcement actions against public officials with fake academic certificates.

The authentication exercise, undertaken by PSC, revealed numerous cases of public officials who forged academic and professional certificates to secure Government jobs and promotions.

The Report shows that there are over 2,000 cases of fake academic papers in government ministries and parastatals. Kenyatta National Hospital and MTRH top the list.

The law allows EACC to recover all salaries and benefits earned based on fake academic qualifications. In addition, the offenders are liable to criminal prosecution.
