CS Aisha Jumwa to Lead Delegation to UN Commission on Status of Women

The Cabinet Secretary for Gender and Affirmative Action, Hon. Aisha Jumwa will on March 11 lead Kenya's delegation to the 68th United Nations Commission on the Status of Women meeting (CSW)in New York.

CS Jumwa will deliver Kenya's statement and participate in roundtable discussions and dialogues during the two-week session from March 11-22.

Kenya will host four side events at the UN during the meeting on topics of ending gender-based violence, promoting women's land rights and unpaid care work, bridging the digital gender divide for financial inclusion, and investing in maternal health to reduce poverty.

In preparation for the meeting, Kenya has formed a national planning committee to develop the country's position paper and statement. Kenya also took part in regional consultations, where African ministers adopted a common position in November.

The expected outcomes from the CSW68 meeting include negotiated sharing of best practices, lessons learned from the side events, and an action plan report guiding implementation after the meeting.
