President William Ruto, accompanied by Sports CS Ababu Namwamba, has today launched the construction of Talanta Sports City Stadium at Jamhuri Grounds, Nairobi. Below are Namwamba's remarks about the stadium.

Talanta Sports City Stadium

The Talanta Sports City Stadium is a custom-designed facility exclusively for football, tailored to accommodate soccer, rugby, and elite concerts. The stadium aligns with the green agenda, which is closely tied to the president's climate initiatives.

CS Namwamba noted that the construction has paid attention to details such as renewable energy and made a deliberate effort to integrate this development with botanical gardens and green spaces.

The stadium meets all FIFA and CAF requirements regarding size, circulation of funds, VIP, and VVIP spaces. Additionally, it is a technologically advanced facility designed for top-level live TV broadcasts, VAR, and goal-line technology comparable to the best in the world.

Namwada added, "The facility is intended to stand beyond the tournament, and we have carefully considered its utility beyond AFCON. We have envisioned revenues from naming rights and are already contemplating the professional management of this space to transform it into an economic hub."

Comparing the cost of this project to other similar ones, such as the Alassane Ouattara Stadium in Abidjan, Cote d'Ivoire, which hosted the recent AFCON, and the new stadium in Kigali, Rwanda, the Amahoro Stadium, the stadium is more cost-effective.
