32 TTC to be converted to campuses of Kenya Teachers Training College

32 Teachers Training Colleges (TTC) will be converted to campuses of the Kenya Teachers Training College (KTTC) under a new law introduced in Basic Education Bill, 2024. The bill seeks to bring the management of all TTCs in Kenya under one body, just like it is with KMTC

Kenya Teachers Training College (KTTC)

The Kenya Teacher Training College headquarters will be based in Nairobi. The college will be managed by a board that comprises a chairperson appointed by the president, PS education, CEO council of governors, TSC secretary, etc. The board of TCC can advise the cabinet secretary of education to establish a new TTC campus when the need arises.

The TTCs that have been converted to campuses shall be headed by a Chief Administrator, who will be appointed by the KTTC board. However, most of the school management activities will be run by the administrator appointed by KTTC board in consultation with TSC.

Kenya School of Teacher and Education Management (KSTEM)

The Kenya School of Teacher and Education Management (KSTEM) will also be established whose role shall be to develop capacity-building programmes, conduct capacity-building of administrators in basic education, provide research that informs policy building in the basic education sector, etc. In brief, the role of KSTEM will be to offer training to basic education administrators, managers, board of directors, etc, and help in doing research that informs policies to be developed.
