Abraham is referred to as father of faith because;

  • He abandoned the polytheistic community to worship Yahweh
  • He accepted to leave Haran to unknown land
  • He accepted to sacrifice his only son
  • He built two altar Bethel and Shechem for worshipping God
  • He changed his name from Abram to Abraham and his wife from Sarai to Sarah
  • He entered into a covenant with God
  • He believed that his wife would bear him a son
