Kenya is referred to as the "cradle of humankind" due to the numerous important archaeological sites that have been discovered there. These sites have provided evidence of early human evolution and human activity over millions of years. Some of the most famous sites include the Turkana Basin in the northwest and the southern lakes region, where the early hominids, including Australopithecus and Homo erectus, lived and evolved.
