About Wagon shopping
Wagon shopping was founded by United States International University-Africa students, alumni Edgar Ochieng, and current student Musa Mutetwi. With four main categories on offer are: Foods & Cooking, Drinks & Beverages, Household & Toiletries and Beauty & Body Care, Wagon Shopping’s goal is to deliver each order in less than 2 hours.
Starting with a pay before delivery model, Wagon Shopping charges a standard Ksh200 for delivery regardless of location. One can pay through either M-Pesa & Paypal. This, Wagon C.E.O Edgar Ochieng says will ensure “monetary Security to both the buyer and Wagon, whilst eliminating the hustle of change, during payment”. A soon to be added feature is Pay on Delivery option for those who prefer to confirm their purchase prior to paying for it”.
But is it a Logistics Platform, or a Retailer? Wagon C.E.O Edgar Ochieng says it is both, “We are a logistics company in the sense that we handle all deliveries ourselves through the Wagon Driver program were people with motor bikes or cars can sign up and deliver for us. We also have the Wagon Shopper Program. If you love shopping, why not get paid doing it? People can sign up and deliver to people in their location of residence/work.” And example, he says is, if you live in Kileleshwa, you can sign up to be a wagon shopper and do shopping for Kileleshwa residence, and get commissions on each delivery. “We are also a Retail Platform as you can practically find any supermarket product, bar Electronics on our platform”.
Having attained an SSL Certification Wagon Shopping customers can now sleep soundly knowing that all their data in the website including Passwords and Credit Card details is protected from malicious attacks such as hacking. It is also equipped with a search bar and easy navigation from sign up, through to check out ensuring that one can do their shopping in as little as 3 minutes.
Starting off in Nairobi, Kenya, Wagon plans to roll out its platform to all major Cities in Africa in the next 5 years.
