
The second edition of Nairobi Innovation week kicked off on Monday, 1st August 2016 and is expected to host a total of 1,500 participants between the 1st and 5th of August 2016. More than 100 exhibitors will showcase their creations during the innovation week. The event is aimed at providing an ecosystem for nurturing and showcasing technology and innovations.
C4DLab, the University of Nairobi’s innovation hub will host this year’s Nairobi Innovation Week, a signature event to recognize and celebrate innovations significant to our society. The structure of the event comprises of plenary sessions, research paper presentations, policy discussions, roundtable discussions and exhibitions of innovations.
Kenya’s potential to compete with the global market greatly depends on the capability of her people to innovate and make use of relevant technology for growth and development. Kenya has placed innovation at the centre stage of its development strategy through the Science, Technology and Innovation Act and Vision 2030 that outlines that Research and development spending should be 2% of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP).
The event largely aims to contribute to the Government’s Research Agenda. All UoN Staff and Students are invited to the Nairobi Innovation Week.
