Stawi Loan is a loan provided through a mobile app for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in Kenya that was launched by the central bank of Kenya governor on 20th May 2019 in partnership with CBA, Cooperative Bank, DTB, KCB and NIC bank (download pdf of CBK press release about Stawi Launch).

According to the StandardMedia, interest rates for stawi loan are 9% per year plus facility fee of 4%, insurance fee of 0.7% and exercise duty of 20% of facility fee. That is the criteria we have used create this calculator.

This is the best initiative so far by Jubilee government. They need to scale up the funding to disburse yearly to the level of mega projects. The payback will be immediate. Imagine sme’s in agriculture, small manufacturing and services business that will employ thousands. carpentry businesses, hair dressing, mama mboga’s, poultry, dairy, wielders etc
