Proposed fee increase for public universities: Bachelors degree and Masters degree

Getting a degree could become even more unbearable and unaffordable for government sponsored students if the proposal to increase tuition  fee goes through. The fee increase proposal  currently undergoing evaluation in 31 universities in Kenya encourages fee to be charged depending on  the cost of the degree programme. This means that degree courses that require more practicals like engineering  and medicine among others will charge a higher fee compared to other  degree programmes.

The draft report of the proposal to increase fee in public universities is being handled by a committee of vice chancellors and chaired by TUK vice chancellor.

Below are proposed student unit costs for Module 1 for different Bachelors degree programmes

  1. Dental surgery-684,000
  2. Medicine (MB.ChB)-420,000
