Noam Chomsky’s propaganda model is used to explain how the dominant elite or the power elites influence news. He states that the dominant elites have filters that are used to screen the news before they are released to the public. Chomsky indicates the raw material of news have to pass via successive filters monitored by the dominant elites leaving only the cleansed filtrate fit to print. If the media does not do according to the wish of the power elites, then they use state resources to spread negative propaganda about that particular media so that it can get negative responses from the audience.
