Yes, even if you are a government sponsored students, you will still need to pay some fee. However, the school fees is minimal compared to that of private sponsored students. You will be required to pay about ksh. 18,000 to 25,000 per semester for government sponsored while private sponsored students will pay more than triple what you are paying because they are not supported by the government.
With such good grades, your brother could have applied for any of the available scholarships and there are chances that he could get one now that you are Orphans. We are not sure whether you explored that option.
If you have been placed at Daystar University by KUCCPS, then it means you are a government-sponsored student. You will not pay the same fee that self-sponsored students pay at Daystar University.
It is not free. Government-sponsored students do pay some percentage of school fees depending on the course and level of education. Therefore, being placed by KUCCPS does not mean you are not going to pay anything but the school fee you pay is about a quarter of what private sponsored students pay.
If you receive 40k, first semester you will get 16k, and second semester 16k. The remaining Ksh. 8,000 will go to your school fees account (4k each semester).
